MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES
We train service dogs for adults with mental health disabilities, and we
educate professionals and the public, regarding the benefits that
service dogs provide.
Vision
Our vision is that all adults with mental health disabilities are
provided the opportunity to have and use a trained psychiatric service
dog.
Mandate
1. Provision of services to the people of Wellington County;
2. Assessment and evaluation of client needs and situations to ensure
psychiatric service dog suitability in supporting mental health;
3. Preparation of the client for life with a service dog;
4. Ongoing monitoring and support between human and animal;
5. Education of the public on issues of service dogs and their partners and on accessibility issues.
6. Education of the relevant public and professionals on the benefits
that trained psychiatric service dogs can provide to people with mental
health disabilities;
7. Acquisition and training of the dogs through qualified trainers
to meet the specific mental health needs of the identified partner.
Values
1. We support clients and families in achieving a more ordinary life;
2. We utilize the highest known standards of identification, care and
training for the dogs and for matching dogs with human partners;
3. We believe in the promotion of our mission through awareness and education;
4. We value caring, honesty, open-mindedness, respect and dedication among all clients volunteers and staff;
